Stuffed Animals Sewn by Sixth Graders

In Art Tech class, 6th graders have been designing and creating cloth sculptures.  They transferred their drawings to one side of a folded cloth and used the running stitch along the entire edge of the form, except for a pull-through hole.  After cutting outside of the stitching line, the main form of each pillow was turned inside-out and stuffed with poly-fill.  The whip stitch sealed the pillow form.  Students also learned to sew on buttons for eyes.  Other surface features have been made with carefully cut scraps of cloth and yarn that have been attached with glue or stitches.
